Obituary
Obituary of Anita Florence Dorothy O'Brien
O’Brien, Anita Florence Dorothy (nee Kynnersley) in her 91st year, on October 7, 2012.
Anita was predeceased by her husband Roy Earl O’Brien in 1987. Her strong spirit, positive attitude and down-to-earth approach to life was a fine example for all who knew her and will be missed by her five children and 17 grandchildren including Pat Martin (husband Bruce and children Debbie, Dawn and David), Terry O’Brien (wife Rita and children Scott and Kim), Karin Symonds (husband John and children Lauren, Mike, Mark, Jill, Leslie and Allison), Jeannette Eberhard (husband Stuart and children Amy, Josh, Ben, Matt, Jon and David), and Connie O’Brien (husband Peter Smith). She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Anita was born in Montreal on November 20, 1921 to Alice (Desauniers) and Charles Kynnersley. The eldest of four children, Anita is survived by younger siblings Violet (the late Bob) Coull of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lloyd (Constance) Kynnersley of Tennessee, and Ed (Arlene) Kynnersley of Penticton.
Anita married Roy in Toronto in 1942 and settled into their family home when Roy returned from the war in 1945. Retirement took them to Muskoka in 1982; Anita moved to London following Roy’s death in 1987. Anita loved gardening, fishing at Kahshe Lake, long (we mean really long) walks, and spending time with her family. But more than anything she loved doing the jitterbug with Roy who has finally called her back to the dance floor.
Please join Anita’s family in a celebration of her life at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo & Colborne St.) on Thursday, October 11th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would invite donations to Friends of Algonquin Park or a charity of your choice.
