Obituary of Joseph "Trainor" Fraser
Joesph Trainor Fraser passed away on February 3rd, peacefully in his 92nd year.
We were told that he spent his final day at McCormick Home laughing with some of the other residents, which is quite fitting as Dad always enjoyed a good story and a hearty laugh. He was larger than life, and definitely larger than most people, which came in handy when you had to raise three teenage boys on your own. Carved straight out of the Canadian Shield, he left Cape Breton with a grade 11 education, joined the RCMP where he rose to the rank of Superintendent. He dined with the Queen, Prime Minister, Charles and Diana, and numerous other dignitaries over his successful career. Dad was a guy’s guy, loved hockey and baseball, and was generous to all. A favourite story is the time he suffered a heart attack but wasn’t sure so he decided to sleep on it. The morning he was convinced that, yes indeed he was having a heart attack, so he drove himself to the hospital, but when he saw the price of parking he drove down the street to find something cheaper, and walked to emergency.
In life, he found love, lost it when his first wife Gerry passed away, and then found love again with Marilyn who has been his constant companion for the past 30 years. When the evil of Dementia creeped in, Marilyn’s love and devotion to him was remarkable. He loved all of his kids, his step kids, their partners and was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren. Trainor was a great man, the last of his kind and he will be missed. Love you forever Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations to the McCormick Home would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, London, Ontario (519-433-6181). Online condolences can be expressed at www.loganfh.ca.
