Dear Chris, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, and that I missed the visitation. He was such a nice man and a joy to work with all those years. I lost my dad in 2009 and mom in 2010, so I know what a void they leave in our lives. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Chris and family, Mort was such a great guy to work with, particularly as one of the 'young guys' coming into the business. I always was impressed with his calm demeanour and with his easy-going style during occasions that easily could be so stressful. The one thing that sticks out for me working with Mort was being the camera guy behind his camera position during one of the Santa Claus parades...Mort had dressed 'in layers' but didn't have a layer on that cut the wind. He literally froze that day and I think Julie Simpson had to inject hot coffee and soup into him for a considerable time before he could actually thaw and move smoothly. My condolences on the loss of your dad. Sincerely Bruce Wray

We may be miles away but our thoughts are near to you. I met Don at work. We worked together and his family and ours grew up together in South London, at company picnics, dances and Christmas parties. "Mort" was easy to like and be with. We will miss him. Especially to Laurel, Chris and Lisa we want you to know we share your sorrow. Sincerely, John & Marilyn

Mort's Family: He was such a good man, even keeping good spirits through this terrible illness. I only knew him through the fantasy baseball, and we were both trading fools. So much fun we had over the game of baseball, and in the last two years helping him get his team together each Monday. He did love it with a passion, and had a totally loyalty to his Indians. "Mort's Tribe" will live in our memories. I know it is a sad time, but also a blessing to finally be at peace. Carl Grindstaff

We were so sorry to hear of Mort's passing. He will always be remembered for his great smile and cheery manner. I fondly remember all the fun times we had in Griff's kitchen and at parties. Our girls all remember "Mr. Mort" as well. He will be greatly missed, but is now with his best buddy Bob, and is no longer in pain. Love, Judy and Bill

Dear Chris and Family, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I'll always remember in the craziness of the newsroom you could always trust Mort would be calm, cool and collected. He was loved and respected by so many! Janet

I'm sending you all much love and sincere condolences on the loss of our sweet Morty. My first inclination was to rush over to Deane and give you all hugs - but with a nasty cold I've been suffering for weeks - the last thing you need when defenses are down - is my germs. I will definitly be there on Sunday. Thank goodness you all have each other in such a time of sadness. my thoughts are with you now.. with much love, Julie
