Dear Jack, John, Lisa, Mark I was so sad to hear of the passing of Helene. Although it was 30 years ago when I was in London, the memories of Helene (and your entire family) are very vivid. She was a wonderful caring lady - an energetic member of the All-Canadian tennis family. She was always willing to help whenever asked and often volunteered in so many ways - hosting parties at your house, billeting kids from other cities, making everyone always feeling welcome. It was so evident how much she loved her entire family! Through the journey of life, you meet many people over the years and during my window of life in London I feel so fortunate to have known your mom. I know this is a very difficult time for the family and I hope that the sorrow that you are all feeling soon turns to fond memories with laughter and smiles! With the fondest regards, Ari

As a young man, I was blessed to be the caretaker at the Sales Family home on Windermere. The family opened their hearts and home - they are a class act. Helene was an attractive, strong and caring lady who shared her love for life with family and friends. The family will always have a place in my heart and even though we are many miles apart, I think of them often. I shall raise my glass high on top of a mountain for Helene. You helped my life grow. Hugs to you all. With Love, Lee Hewitt - British Columbia

Regretfully the path of friendship, sometimes caused to overgrowth by life decisions, is brought to task by the passing of a dear friend. The passing of Helene caused sadness to our family. We will always cherish the memory of shared dinners, glasses of chilled white wine and vibrant conversation. As well, Helene's laughter and spontaneity of circumstances are paramount to her memory. We raise a glass of chilled wine to her!!!!!! Carla, Shelby and Wilson Thompson

When the Vermeulen family immigrated to Canada, they moved into a small house on Rosedale Ave next door to my childhood home. I recall a warm, friendly family, intent on quickly becoming Canadian. I remember that the boys loved to watch Saturday Night Wrestling from Marigold Arena in Chicago on our old black and white TV, and remember Helen as a beautiful and accomplished young lady. As the family started to get established in their new homeland, they moved to a larger house in South London, where my sister Margaret and I were invited for Sunday dinner, prepared by Helen, for us and her brothers. Being nearly 60 years ago, I can't recall the main course, but have never forgotten the wonderful chicken soup. We lost touch as everyone moved on with their respective careers and families, but the memories of those early days are vivid. I am very sorry to hear of Helen's passing and offer sincere condolences to her entire family.
