My Mom just let me know of Mrs. McNaugton’s passing and I want to express my sincere sympathy. I didn’t realize it at the time but I guess I was in Mrs. McNaughton’s (then Miss Power) first grade 3 class at Northridge (my name was Robin Frook back then). I even attended your wedding! I loved her as a teacher and even all these years later, she still recognized my Mom and would ask after my wellbeing and get an update on my life when they ran into each other at the grocery store or at the doctor’s office. I will always remember how kind she was and how she inspired me to not hide my light under a bushel. I recall that she frequently checked in on me when I moved on to Mrs Wadsworth’s class in grade four. She also sought me out on my last day of grade four to give me a hug and tell me how proud she was of me as I left Northridge and went on to the Gifted Program at Bishop Townsend the following September. I was privileged to have her as my teacher and I am sure she went on to positively influence many other children. May your memories be a blessing to you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. McNaughton’s passing, my all time favourite teacher. She taught me in Grade 3/4 at Northridge PS and always worked hard to find extra challenges for my math nerd self. I was so touched when over 10 years later, she had given my name to a young student of hers as a math tutor even though she had not seen me since I was in her class. That was the kind of connection she made with her students. She was instrumental in fostering my confidence in math and science, which were sadly not as encouraged for young girls in the 80s. I still think of her and how she started me on my path and I think she would be tickled to know that I stayed in science and got my doctorate in neuropsychology. I owe Mrs. McNaughton more than she knew. And as a fellow Jays fan, I wish they played a bit better so she could have had one more World Series in life. To her family, please know what a difference Mrs. McNaughton played for many of her students.

Dear Lloyd. Wayne and I want to give our sincere condolences on the loss of Julia. It was such a shock for you and her many friends. We must say that we enjoyed so many hours together, cruising, playing cards together and celebrating birthdays and other special occasions. Julia was so organized in all areas of her life. She kept a monthly budget and I was so impressed how she knew where every penny was spent. I learned many life lessons from her and she always stated that it was the influence of her Mother in her life that affected her so deeply. Julia genuinely loved children as I saw so many lovely interactions with my grandchildren and the children of her neighbours. She never forgot the birthdays of the neighbourhood children and recognized these special occasions with gifts.Julia will be truly missed. Her memory will live in our hearts forever.

I am so very sorry to learn of Mrs McNaughton's passing. She played a key role in my learning process as my fabulous grade 3 teacher, at Northridge PS. She taught me important life skills as well as how to write cursive. Her penmanship was beautiful and I loved her earning her written encouragement on my work. I remember her fondly and appreciate her ability to effectively teach a huge room of diverse learners. It is because of great teachers like her, that I developed the confidence to also become an educator.

Lloyd,
I am saddened to hear about the passing of Julia. Her loss is felt deeply within our church community and beyond.
Julia was truly a beacon of kindness and warmth, always welcoming everyone with open arms and a bright smile. Her devotion to our church and its members was evident in everything she did, from her enthusiastic participation in church events at Bethel and St. George's to the quiet, compassionate ways she reached out to those in need.
Lloyd, please know that you are not alone during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Jenna McNaughton
