Obituary of Julia Winnifred McNaughton
Suddenly, at home on Thursday, April 18th , 2024 in her 80th year, Julia Winnifred McNaughton (née Power) passed away. Julia was the beloved wife of Lloyd McNaughton (Ilderton) for 46 years. Predeceased by her parents Albert (Oct. 20, 1946) and Glenda Power (Apr.8, 1994). Her Mother was her best friend who taught her the important ways to live each day to the fullest. Dear Aunt to Kevin (Becky) McNaughton. Proud Great Aunt to nephew James McNaughton and niece Evelyn McNaughton. Julia will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion and generosity. She will be dearly missed by many friends and neighbours.
Julia obtained her Ontario Teachers Certificate in 1978 and graduated from Western in 1979 with her BA. She loved teaching for 33 years for the former Board of Education for the City of London. Her dedication and caring shaped the lives of many children. She will forever hold a place in their hearts. Julia was a Charter Member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society (Chapter for Professional Society of Women Educators), a member of the Eastern Star Bethlehem Chapter and Past President of the Homecraft Division for the Ilderton Agricultural Society.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome for visitation at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St, London, Ontario (between Colborne & Waterloo St.), on Friday, April 26th, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. George’s Presbyterian Church,1475 Dundas St., London, Ontario on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment of ashes will take place in Medway Cemetery, Ilderton, Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to the Ilderton Agricultural Society, Salvation Army or St. George’s Presbyterian Church in memory of Julia.
